Seven/Sixteen

BONJOUR!...guess where I am..Well, not Paris but close enough. The HAMPTONS! Yes, I am in the Hampton's for two weeks to nanny. I have never been and it is most definitely everything I imagined it being. I am here babysitting three sweet boys named Dylan, Ryan and Connor. But, as far as that goes, this trip will be told on the next post so you'll have to stay tuned. As you may know, or may not depending how close we are, last week (hints the seven/sixteen) was my birthday. I just turned twenty-two and I could not be more excited to be getting older. There's something about saying 'twenty-two' that just seems so mature. Maybe I'm starting to feel more cool or wish I was more mature sometimes haha. All I can say is that I'm happy that I'm not twenty-one anymore (sorry twenty-one year olds you'll understand me soon). This birthday was one of the best birthdays that I have ever had, except for my Barbie birthday when I turned seven. I'm not sure that I will ever be able to top that. Two of my best friends came in town ( Elizabeth and Leeza ). Elizabeth stayed with Tiffany and Leeza stayed with me. Leeza bussed over from Georgetown and got there Friday afternoon just in time for the bash. Before she got there we started the day by going to see the Today Show where Enrique Iglesias performed for conert Friday’s. I have never been a huge fan of him, but now you could probably call me president of his fan club. He is SO CUTE and I am obsessed. P.S his new cd is in stores now so go get it (he asked me personally to help promote so hey, I’ll do what I can)! I'm still not sure if he like's men though..Maybe he's confused but that doesn't matter because he is SEXAY and seems to have a GREAT personality. So, after that we walked around and did all the cutesy touristy things. As the night approached we got ready (Leeza was there by then) and my roommates through me a party on our rooftop. Jasmine was head of the party planning and I cannot thank her enough. She did wonderful and made everything so special! Our rooftop is on the 37th floor that overlooks the city with an incredible view. There was about twenty people and we did cupcakes, champagne toast and the whole shin-dig of a birthday celebration. Dinner was at 10 where we had appetizers, drinks and lots of guacamole! After dinner a friend of mine was able to get us on the guest list of a club called Tenjune. We had to get there at EXACTLY 11:30 sharp or else we wouldn't be able to get in. Keep in mind, everyone had to at least be 5'6 and extremely 'good-looking' (according to the guy that let us in). That made me a little mad because these people are so unrealistic but hey, whatever makes them feel cool I guess. Luckily, we all got in (I stood on my tippy-toes) and sprinted on by. He had no clue. We had our own party table and the only place I could be found was on the dance floor. Leeza was my personal dance partner for the night. If there was a dance off we would have most definitely won. We brought out the speratic pointing fingers while bobbing our heads (trying to be cool though) , stirred the soup and I'm sure she shopping cart made an appearance once or twice. So, Leeza, on my behalf thanks for being a BIG embarrassment with me! After we were danced out we decided to head home and hang out on the terrace. We had a nice little chat about a whole bunch of nothing and then went to bed. The rest of the weekend the four of us (me, Leeza, Elizabeth and Tiffany) hung out in the city, ate, went and saw the famous places in Sex and the City, ate some more, SAW HEIDI KLUM, ate some cupcakes, went to ground zero, central park, Wall Street and times square. We ended the night with wine on the rooftop and all in all, it was a wonderful weekend with great friends and good conversation. Kenzie, Molly, Kasey, Rachel…you were missed so very much and I wish you could have been here with me. I miss you and love you!

Friends and family are who make us ‘us..never forget that.

How to entertain a boy in NY

Its 1:36 AM and I'm wide awake in my bed. I tried counting sheep, said the alphabet over and over and even counted to one-hundred multiple times. So, here I am doing what I love to do.BLOG! I have had a long, fun-filled day with wonderful friends! Austin (with an I not E) and his friend Robby came to visit me today. Austin is a friend from home and Robby is one of his teammates from Kansas. All I could think about today was The Wizard of Oz, haha. They are currently living in Fishkill, NY which is about an hour and a half on a train to the city. Today was one of their off days so of course I insisted they come visit! They only had a day in the city so how in the world do you fit NYC in ONE day. So, I did lots of preparation before they got here because I wanted them to have the ultimate experience. Little did I know it was the most difficult entertaining I've ever done. Whenever you ask a guy what they want to do they never have an opinion and don't speak up until after the decision is made. On the other hand, a girl generally has a planned schedule with of course, breakfast, lunch and dinner strictly marked on the agenda. Boys can go all day long without eating whereas girls CANNOT skip a meal because they think they are going to die of hunger. Boys hate shopping whereas girls never have money, but somehow find than extra 20 bucks for that shirt at gap that's an additional 40% off. Oh, or J.Crew because you better believe I just got my email of the blowout one day only sale on the boyfriend jeans. Boys think trees are trees and grass is grass so what’s the big deal about Central Park. Girls think every inch of it is absolutely breathtaking and could sit and stare at the ridiculously cute couples walking past wishing it were them. Oh, did I mention that as were staring at couples were also talking about our weddings and how beautiful they would be by the willow trees? Or, how those purple with a hint of baby blue hydrangeas would make for a perfect flower arrangement? Boys think, Trump Towers? What's the big deal Donald Trump is a big D-bag anyways. Girls think, oh my gosh...isn't that where the famous show The Apprentice is taped...I MUST get a picture! Ok, I could go on and on about the differences between girls and boys so I think you probably get my point. My trip did not go as planned. My exciting and fun filled day consisted of going to a Brewery for lunch, Times Square, my apartment to 'rest', Central Park, Starbucks, Madison Square Gardens, back to my apartment to rest for the second time and then the grand finale, dinner at Duke's! I really scored some brownie points there. Needless to say I think it was the highlight of their day because it was good southern barbeque. Now whether I think they will become future New Yorkers and dream to live in the city one day, probably not. Did we have a wonderful day, yes for sure. After all I now know how to plan a trip for guys. Simple is the key and give them a beer and they are happy. Stay tuned..D.C is next!

TWO WEEKS!

Wow, I cannot believe that I have been in NYC for TWO WEEKS. It has absolutely flown by and I have been so busy. Last weekend, I went out with Morgan, Jasmine, Jay and his friend Chrissy. We went to a place called SL Lounge in the meat packing district. It was absolutely incredible and had eccentric lighting with x-ray pictures all over the walls for decoration. It may have been the coolest atmosphere EVER. As my first nightlife outing in NYC it definitively put Tuscaloosa, Alabama to shame, surprise! haha. We have met lots of people and  new friends. This past weekend I hung out, ran errands and got a real big feel for the city. Morgan is a nanny for a family with three boys so on Tuesday I went with her and Dylon (the little boy that she sits) around town and to the park. He is adorable and so sweet. On Thursday and Friday I had a nanny job for an eleven year old boy named Sammy. He is really cool and thinks I’m really cool so therefore that’s pretty cool. On Thursday I picked Sammy up from school and we went to the USS Intrepid, Sea, Air and Space, museum. For those of you who don't know the intrepid is battleship that served during WWII. Sammy is so smart and made me feel so dumb because he literally knew EVERYTHING about this ship. He was my little personal tour guide. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was pretty cool until three hours later we were had only made it to the second floor (out of four). But to say the least I’m really glad I was able to fill my brain with some knowledge. Oh also, did I mention that Sammy is in the same class with James Gandolfini’s (from the Sopranos) son and the NY Yankees catcher Jorge Pasada’s son! On Friday, before I picked him up from school I was at the park drinking my starbucks and glanced up and saw BEN STILLER!!!..I could not believe it. Don't worry; I managed to sneak a picture but only of his behind, oh well. I got to experience Dave and Busters (New York style) and the park where I chased after Sammy the whole time on his scooter. He’s eleven so of course he thought that was hilarious. This weekend we went to Brother Jimmy's BBQ with lots of southern hospitality and then met up with friends and then went out. Morgans friend Allie (and mine of course) is in town visiting and I'm so glad she is here with us!Yesterday we hung out on our rooftop and then went to a show called Naked Boys Singing. Now if you please, let your imagination flow and understand that the show was EXACTLY what it sounds like. I think I may be scarred for life and I was so embarrassed haha. This week I have lots of work and I can't wait to get back to you. I hope you, wherever you are, are having a wonderful, safe and blessed journey. Adios and I will be back very very soon!

FIRST NIGHT IN NYC

Hello everyone!..for those of you who didn't know, I have moved to the Big Apple. But dont worry, I'll be back down south in August (unless I find my calling out here haha). Yesterday my flight left at 1:45 pm and I arrived at 5:10 pm. I had a very nice flight and sat to the family owner of Sneaky Pete's! Small World! He was actually the nephew of Pete. His name was Billy and he gave me lots of advice and recomendations for things to do that I must do while I am here, which of course was very helpful. After I ventured down to baggage claim ( which I could barely move considering I had two roly 50 lb. suitcases, my backpack, purse, and hat that I carried because I didn't want it to get smushed). I hopped in my taxi and headed across the bridge. I was just soooo excited to be here and of course jumped right on in that taxi and started talking 90 to nothing. That for sure didn't last long because Abdul (or whatever his name was) just was NOT having me. So..I gave up haha. After about a fifteen minute ride (due to afternoon traffic) I arrived at 505 37th street. It is absolutely beautiful. I am inlove and I have the most beautiful view of the Hudson to my right and the Empire State building to my left. We live up on the 11th floor that over looks the city. I got settled in, unpacked and then went to dinner at the most well known deli in America, Carnegie Deli. I had a turkey sandwhich that I can make three more meals out of due to left overs and Morgan got chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese, surprise! ha. We came home and were exhausted but still so excited so needless to say I fell asleep around 2:30. I had an meeting this morning and it went great. I can't wait to keep you posted on my adventures, so stay tuned!!

The Boarder

I am sure that we all  remember learning about the U.S/Mexican boarder in highschool. It all began whe the U.S took over and claimed the Mexican land.Well this past week I got the opportunity to see the boarder fence and the Rio Grande. I must admit that it is the most ridiculous fence that I have ever seen. My 10 year old niece could build a better fence. It makes total sense to why we have so many illegal aliens in our country. On the other hand, I was able to go to mexico also. We easily drove in to Mexico but had to show our passports coming back in to the United States. I know that the drug wars are going on but for some reason I was completely calm. My mom was a nervous wreck and of course my dad wanted to go no matter what. We of course had to be festive, so for lunch I ordered chicken and my dad ordered steak. Now remeber, the meat is completely different than what we are customed to. I had one bite and that was all. My dad ejoyed his steak and of couse my mom was a little dramatic and couldn't believe we were eating. She became so disgusted and chose to shop instead. Haha, can we say DRAMA QUEEN. It was a great experience and although I have been before, this side opened my eyes to true poverty. I know that they are living in complete poverty, but I still feel that the U.S should take more control over who are entering our country. I feel this because they are taking away jobs. I do not want to sound hateful because I understand they are fighting for the "American Opportunity", but I feel that they should gain their U.S citizenship the right way. Also, I learned how to surf! It was soo much fun and props to surfers because it is a lot harder than it looks! I. MEAN. A. LOT. I surfed all day long and let me tell you, I could barely feel my arms the next day. Surfng is something I've always wanted to learn. I hope to continue this hobby from now on. It is great fun and excercise and everyone should try it!
Knarly dude.

Superficial. Weight-Obsessed. World.

Ok, so I'm back from my hiatus of my blogging. I have not really blogged much lately because I did not want this to become an everyday acurance. I feel that if I blog every single day then people will lose interest because I will gradually begin to talk about uninteresting topics. But, I've realized something. Even if I want to talk about the color of the sky, or what I ate for dinner I will be sure to make in interesting in some way. But to get on with my topic today, I feel like I had somewhat of an realization of woman beauty today. Many girls struggle with weight issues. It just honestly something we cannot help. No matter how often girls say, "I don't care what weight I am", somewhere in the back of your mind you naturally think about it. You look in the mirror everyday while getting ready and wish you could change something about yourself. Why is it that a size four is often criticized as being fat? THAT MAKES NO SENSE. Size 4,6,8,10,12,14,16 and 18's are beautiful. When I say that I mean it in all honesty, beautiful. In some countries a size 16 is sexier than a size 4 so why is it that in the United States smaller seems to be better? It's esentually the result of a media-driven society. It is almost as if your weight defines who you are as a person in both physical and social aspects. This is NOT FAIR. Girls are so extremely unhappy with themselves. I know this may seem like a silly topic but it's not. Girls are dying over this, they are literally so obsessed with weight ( extra skin and fat ) that they result to different diseases such as anorexia-------->DEATH. I'm sure you all remember when the tabloids ripped Jessica Simpson apart for her "fat" jeans. Well those "so called" fat jeans were a whopping {fat-sized} 4. This honestly discust's me. Ladies, it's ok to eat a cheeseburger, fries and heck even have a diet free drink (every now and then). Flaunt your curves because trust me, some people would kill for them. Each and every person has their own flaws and wondefull features that were made for them. You were created to be the natural size you are. Today, just for the sake of it I asked a dear (guy) friend of mine about this weight issue and he said, "Isn't size four really small?..Im not a fan of the boney look at all, I mean every now and then I like to hug a girl and feel like im hugging a saggy bag filled with dull knives, it really gets me going". Now, obviously he's completely joking, but this goes to show you the real truth of the situation. If anything, I guess my point is that I want you to find your happiness within not from outward appearance. Embrace your curves, your muffin top and those thunder thighs. I love you all, thank you for reading and ladies, LETS BRING SEXY BACK!
P.S. Remember everything in moderation to keep your lovely in sides healthy!

Cellphone Alert

So, if any of you watched Oprah yesterday you probably know what I am about to say. Many of you who know me really well know that I am constantly texting. I am REALLY bad at texting while driving and have felt that I could easily do both at the same time( which I can't ). After watching this show I feel extremely guilty and some what foolish.Let me just tell you that I am taking a pledge from texting and driving after seeing how many innocent, loved ones have been killed from texting. Yes, me, Angel Hufham will take a pledge from now on to stop and help stop texting while driving. Did you know that more people die a year from sending text messages and talking on the phone than from drunk drivers? I didn't know until now and I hope that you too reading this will take a pledge also so that you aren't put in a situation that could harm your life or someone else's. :)

Shout out to the H-town!

Ok..so here is the first "official' blog!...All of my lovely folowers ( note that I only have ONE so far haha so feel free to follow me)..have been begging me to update but haven't because I didn't want this to be a boring blog. So with that said..I have exciting information!..My last night at home in hoover was Saturday night. I went over to a friend's house to visit with old high school friends. We all went to dinner to the finest Mexican resturaunt newly built by the target in hoover. After dinner, everyone decided to come to my house to party and get down! I insisted we could play board games but that got shut down immedialtey ( I mean who wouldn't want to play a twisty game of twister )?..anyways we went to my house. It was me, Sergio, Linda, Cathy, Ronda, Bradley, Tyler, Adam and Dwight. ( for all of you geniouses see if you can uncode these names )!..we had an eventful night full of stories and craziness. There was a love bird somewhere in the air and NO it was NOT ME ( wink wink). We stayed up really late...some boys fell in my pool because they think they are "Jesus" and can walk on water..cough cough.. not completely frozen ice..cough cough. So lets just say they are complete dumb dumbs. I constantly had suggestions from stories for my blog but decided not to put in here or else it would be a huge inside joke that no-one would understand and I would hate for anyone reading this to feel left out....duh! After the long night we went to bed..everyone woke up and I cooked breakfast for nine people!..we had eggs..sausages..hotdogs weenies..and biscuts! it was delicious!..I'm trying to become more domestic and think I did pretty good I must say. We sat around and talked and then we all departed for our seperate ways..sad. Now, I am back in Tuscaloosa I only have Tuesday and Thursday classes and feel like I have lots of empty time. I DON"T LIKE EMPTY TIME..I feel kinda well, empty. Today I will start my list of new years resolutions which is a bit listy but I'm sooo excited! Quote of the day

"When people show you who they are BELIEVE THEM THE FIRST TIME"-  Maya Angelo
...watching Oprah, this quote came across the conversation....

Life as I see it

HELLO!!!!..ok, so here is the inspiration behind this blog. It is a new year, a new decade and many other new "new ideas". I constantly find myself looking at blogs and for some reason they seem so inspirational to me. I find it extremely interesting how one persons thoughts and ideas can so easily inspire others. No, I am not trying to be an inspiration to anyone haha but perhaps if I do bring a smile to someone else's face that is enough satisfaction for me ( I'm joking but still secretly serious ). In this blog, I will post whatever comes to my mind at the moment so I will go ahead an apologize for my rational thinking. This will definitely be a learning process so bare with me. I guess to give you an insight I will talk about my crazy life..my internships..my favorite quotes ( I am obsessed with quotes)..devotionals...where I plan to be in 5 years and how I WILL get there. I will also tell many stories, my life are filled with them through the help of my wonderful friends. But most importantly I hope that you find this blog filled with love and inspiration or even just to give you a break from life. I love you all and hope that you enjoy this!
